SOMETHING OUT OF 'NOTHING;' NOTHING OUT OF 'SOMETHING!'

An Emperor was a good ruler but was an atheist..

"When I strongly believe that whatever comes up to me is to be ultimately lived thru', where is the place for God here? It's just a weak man's Philosophy!"

He used to reiterate often..

The wise Minister having noticed that attitude for a while decided to bring a change in his Emperor's psychology in a novel way..

One day morning, he created his own story and said to the Emperor,

"Your Majesty! Last night, God appeared in my dream and said your Highness would be facing a misfortune on the coming Wednesday!'

"My dear! I don't believe in such loose talk with any one and I'll prove that nothing would happen so easily with our good care. But if I am moving actively on this day and by chance have a small a catch, you'll surely attribute that to your dream. I'll just stay indoors and restrain my movements on that day. You too will be with me by my side!"

The Emperor said with all firmness..

A day before D-day, the Emperor declared to his Court that he was not feeling well and thus stayed indoors and in the secret escape tunnel passage of his Palace with his Minister bolting the door inside for the whole of next day..

The next day morning, he straight away narrated the whole story in his Court and said,

“None can do anything to an individual who carries high self confidence and totally believes in self!”

Everyone kept quiet, but the wise Minister told his Emperor that he was wrong. When the Emperor challenged him, the Minister said,

“Your Majesty! You are a Monarch and supposed to be ruling all of us. But you have hidden this specific event totally from your Court's knowledge and yesterday you

  • Left all your Official works,
  • Pretended having a non existing sickness,
  • Bolted your room like a man of cowardice,
  • Went into escape tunnel which the Kings use only when they were defeated by the enemy and

Spent part of your time in the
  • Dark,
  • Stuffy and
  • Smelling tunnel
Without a movement. What other misfortune should descend on an Emperor of your Caliber?”

The Emperor was amused with the explanation given by his Minister but asked,

"OK! I agree that it was a day of misfortune for me. You believe in God but you too have passed thru' all that harrowing experience. Why didn't the God take care of you here?"

The Minister smiled and said,

"Your Highness! I lived in the Palace for full day along with my Emperor and it was an honor for me!"

The Emperor became thoughtful..

If something comes up unusual in life, would he remain the same personality at the back of that pain and misery and live thru' beyond?

He turned to the Minister and said,

"What you say is right..

Something can surface out of nothing too if one's scales tilt..

  • At any moment after discharge of the ordained duties, other than remaining humble in front of
The Great Universal Force
  • Praying for the Ultimate Care, there is nothing more one can do!"
"But a small correction to that Sacred Belief, Sir!"

"What else more?"

  • "It's better, we forever carry that Belief in
 The Great Universal Force
  • In the Right direction only as
Nothing can surface out of something too if one's attention dilutes!"

Clarified the Minister revealing his hatched out plan behind the event..

Confirming on subject at that point of time, a Vedic Teacher outside the Palace was heard reciting aloud followed by his Scholars repeating in chorus the 8th Sloka, Chapter 10 of Srimad Bhagavad Gita where in Lord Krishna declared to Prince Arjuna..

'Aham sarvasya prabhavo
mattah sarvam pravartate;
Iti matwaa bhajante maam
buddhaa bhaavasamanvitaah.'

'I am the source of all (in the Universe); from Me (alone) everything evolves; understanding thus the wise (forever), through meditation, worship me (alone).'

(An inspiration I got out of a Parable heard in my childhood)

Keywords: SOMETHING, NOTHING
